Variety | Thermal Buzz

“Director Jordan Phoenix breaks that dumbness down…

‘We filmed the whole thing in just three days on this beautiful private cattle ranch in Orlando,’ he says. ‘The property had these crystal-clear, aqua-blue springs running through it. And the crew would take breaks launching into them on rope swings. It honestly felt like summer camp.'” – Variety

Variety just covered Thermal Buzz, the new Garage Beer x Predator: Badlands short film I directed starring Jason Kelce, Beau Allen, and pro wrestler Matt Cardona. It’s an official collaboration with 20th Century Studios and a love letter to the original 1987 Predator—complete with jungle camo, explosions, and, naturally, cold beer.

We shot the 11-minute short outside Orlando, blending big-studio action vibes with Garage Beer’s trademark “lo-fi chaos.” The article notes that Thermal Buzz continues the absurd cinematic universe we started with Brewmite I & II, but this time with aliens, NFL players, and way more sweat. A 30-second cut even aired during NFL games leading up to the release.

Jason summed it up best in the piece: “In my mind, it’s hard to find a movie more iconic than Predator… we’re just pumped our short film can be part of the moment.”
